Not even an early 4-0 lead was enough to help the Santa Fe Fuego from losing another game on Wednesday night in Pecos League action at Fort Marcy Ballpark.

Visiting Tucson handed Santa Fe (15-44) its eighth straight loss, rallying for a 15-7 blowout in which the Saguaros battered Fuego pitching for 20 hits. Ryan Retz and Jimmy Heck again led the way for Tucson, combining for six hits, seven runs scored and eight RBI. The pair now have 17 RBIs in the last two games.

Ryo Ose got the start on the mound for Santa Fe. He worked into the fifth but exited having allowed 14 hits and 11 runs with three strikeouts. He’s but the latest in a long line of Fuego pitchers to get roughed up this season.

Santa Fe has allowed at least 15 runs in each of the last six games and at least 13 in nine straight. Opponents have now reached double figures in the run column 35 times in the Fuego’s 59 games.

Omar Artsen led Santa Fe with a 4-for-5 night, driving in five runs and scoring twice. He hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first and added a three-run shot in the fourth.
