Fuego walk-off, Take 2.

David Stone blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth as the Santa Fe Fuego swept a three-game Pecos League series Friday with the Alpine Cowboys with a 7-6 win at Fort Marcy Ballpark.

The win kept the Fuego

(18-9) atop the Mountain Division standings by a single game over the Trinidad Triggers (18-11), and it was the second straight game they won in their final at-bat.

Alpine scored a single run in each of the last three innings, with J.J. Graham’s RBI single giving the Cowboys a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Fuego responded with a one-out walk by Caleb Baker, and Stone hit a home run to seal the win.

After seeing the Fuego pitching staff surrender double-digit runs in five of the last six games, Ed Brandsema held Alpine to just five runs over 71/3 innings, with three earned.

The White Sands Pupfish come to Santa Fe on Saturday for a two-game set before heading off to Trindad for a crucial three-game series on Monday.
