The streaking Santa Fe Fuego are going streaking again.
Santa Fe scored 14 runs before the Trinidad Triggers could fashion a reply, and the Fuego rolled to a 15-2 win at Central Park in Pecos League play on Tuesday night. It was the second straight win for the Fuego, and their 11th in the last 12 games.
A five-run first inning set the tone for the night, as Santa Fe (15-4) scored a pair of runs each in the next two innings for a commanding 9-0 lead. That was more than enough for Fuego starting pitcher Ed Brandsema. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing seven hits and a walk while striking out 11 Triggers. Brandsema has gone at least six innings in each of his first four starts.
The Fuego managed 18 hits on the day, with quintet of hitters collecting three hits each. Matt Haskins went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs and three RBIs, while Eric Maria was 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs. Willie Doll and Nick Gotta also went 3-for-6, while A.J. Flores was 3-for-5. The two teams play the last of their three-game set at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
