The Santa Fe Fuego exploded on Wednesday night.

Three straight three-run innings to start the Pecos League game against the Las Cruces Vaqueros got the Fuego going, and they cruised to a 17-4 win at Fort Marcy Ballpark. After losing five of seven games, Santa Fe has won two straight at home.

Chevas Numata had only one hit, but it signalled how the night would be — his two-run home run capped a three-run bottom of the first inning fort a 3-0 lead. The second saw the Fuego (11-5) score thrice on three hits and a pair of errors, while Martin Guevara accounted for all of the runs in the third with a three-run shot for a 9-0 margin.
