The Santa Fe Fuego got a split Tuesday, but they also finally got a win over the Trinidad Triggers.
The Fuego stopped a five-game losing streak at the hands of the Trigger in the opener of a Pecos League twinbill, winning 3-2, but the host team rebounded in the night cap with a 4-3 win in Central Park. The split ensured that the Fuego will return to Santa Fe on Thursday with the Mountain Division lead, as they hold a 11/2-game lead over the Triggers and the Alpine Cowboys.
In Game 1, Santa Fe (21-11) made a three-run third inning hold up, as Dan Karasinski held the Triggers to just two sixth-inning runs in six innings for the win. Eric Maria had an RBI single in the third, and A.J. Flores followed with a two-run double to make it 3-0. Trinidad (20-13) cut the lead to one thanks to two-out RBI singles from Jabari Brown and Kenneth Fudge, but Karasinski got out of the inning without further damage.
