As is true throughout the state, Northern New Mexico’s role in Vietnam was significant. Thousands from this region served honorably on the ground, in the air, at sea and in support roles. Those who came home are older and grayer, but no less mindful of what they went through those many years ago. In November, the newspaper will run a first-person retrospective on those who served in Southeast Asia during that turbulent time. If you have a story about your service during those years — or if you’d like to tell the story of a friend or loved one — the New Mexican welcomes your input. Ideally, submitted stories about those days and about your service will be between 100 and 500 words. Photographs are welcomed as well. The New Mexican's special publication will appear on Veterans Day in November.
