Talk about strange bedfellows: a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale and some R-rated eavesdropping into the shenanigans of England’s royal family. They come together this weekend in two cutting-edge chamber operas by Yale-based composer/harpist Hannah Lash at SITE Santa Fe (1606 Paseo de Peralta, 505-989-1199, sitesantafe.org) and Albuquerque’s Las Puertas Event Center (1512 1st St. NW, 505-244-0290). Lash and the New York quartet loadbang (singer, trumpet, clarinet, trombone) premiere The Chimney Sweep and the Shepherdess, based on Andersen’s love story. The program also includes the outrageous song cycle, The Stoned Prince, in which we listen in on imagined phone ramblings by an inebriated Prince Harry. See them in Santa Fe on Saturday, April 13, and on Sunday, April 14, in Albuquerque. Both begin at 10:30 a.m. Tickets ($5-$15) are available at chatterabq.org.
