The meditative and spiritual power of chanting has sustained devotees of many faiths for thousands of years. Deva Premal and Miten, longtime chanters of mantras sung in the language of Sanskrit, merge the ancient Indian sound formulas with music, in enthralling concerts that keep mantra chanting alive in the 21st century. They join Nepalese bansuri flute maestro Manose and an international band at the Lensic Performing Arts Center (211 W. San Francisco St.) for a 7:30 p.m. concert on Friday, May 3. The performance is part of Deva Premal & Miten’s On the Wings of Mantra World Tour and features mantras from the recent release Deva, as well as songs from Miten’s album Temple at Midnight. Tickets ($35-$108) are available at the Lensic box office (505-988-1234), or online at ticketssantafe.org.
