Atravesada: Poetry of the Border is a multi-genre performance exploring literal and metaphorical boundaries between the United States and Mexico as well as within the self. The one-act piece features traditional Mexican music in combination with the poetry and prose of writers whose work focuses on the border region, including Sandra Cisneros, Demetria Martinez, Valerie Martínez, and Pat Mora. Atravesada opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Teatro Paraguas (3205 Calle Marie). Performances continue through Jan. 20, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission is via a suggested donation of $5-$15.
