Jazz guitarist Greg Ruggiero has performed with and learned from the great jazz masters of the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s, many of whom were still playing in New York City where Ruggiero lives. Ruggiero’s music ranges from the classic American songbook and swing to original compositions, and he performs regularly in The Michael Kanan Trio and with his own trio along with New York legends Steve Little on drums and Murray Wall on bass.
A musician at top music spots such as Carnegie Hall and the Jazz Standard, Ruggiero’s performed with luminaries, including Bill Crow, Mark Turner, and Luisa Sobral. While in New Mexico to visit with family, the Albuquerque-raised Ruggiero will hook up with old friends to perform at Club Legato at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 22.
Performing with Ruggiero will be Bob Fox on piano, Asher Barreras on bass, and John Trentacosta on drums. Tickets are $30 ($25 for Santa Fe Music Collective members) at holdmyticket.com/event/392494. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. Club Legato, 125 E. Palace Ave., 505-988-9232, lacasasena.com/clublegato
