Formed in 1969, the band WAR came from the multicultural streets of Los Angeles and gave the world such iconic hits as “Spill the Wine” (1970) and “Low Rider” (1975). WAR has been through numerous lineup changes over the years, but they continue to tour. The band shares a musical lineage with Ozomatli, a socially conscious, funky Latin hip-hop group that’s also from L.A. but two generations younger. War and Ozomatli play a free concert at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at Taos’ Kit Carson Park (211 Paseo del Pueblo Norte). Doors to the all-ages show open at 4 p.m. Advance registration required, call 505-886-1251 or see tickets.holdmyticket.com/tickets/335837.
