Heavy rock is on tap for the two-day Monolith on the Mesa music festival in El Prado, near Taos, May 17-18. Dead Meadow, True Widow, Spirit Mother, and Crypt Trip are just a few of the dozens of bands playing on indoor and outdoor stages at Taos Mesa Brewing (20 ABC Mesa Road, El Prado), with festivities carrying over to the adjacent Hotel Luna Mystica vintage trailer hotel and campground (25 ABC Mesa Road). Music starts around 11:30 a.m. and ends around midnight both days; a pre-party on Thursday, May 16, starts at 6 p.m. Be sure to bring a jacket for after sunset, and lawn chairs or picnic blankets for all-day comfort.
