More than 25 years after the heyday of the zine — a DIY magazine with a punk-rock ethos, often put together at Kinko’s — a new generation of self-published or small-press publications is annually celebrated in Santa Fe. With the help of a Fulcrum Fund award and the sponsorship of Meow Wolf, this year’s Zine Fest has expanded, promising tote bags and a food truck along with work from more than 30 exhibitors. Among the hundreds of zines from locals and visitors, keep an eye out for the queer parenting zine Spawn, scented zines, composting guides, comics, music zines, and 2 A.M. Sunday Morning, a poetry zine. Support independent publishing at the third annual Zine Fest, which takes place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at CCA’s Tank Garage Gallery (1050 Old Pecos Trail, ccasantafe.org).
