New Mexico's annual back-to-school tax holiday comes Friday through Sunday, which means Santa Fe shoppers won't pay the 8.3125 gross receipts tax on certain items at participating stores.

There are limits to items that qualify for tax-free shopping. Some of them include the following:

  • Clothing and shoes under $100 — but not items used primarily for athletic activity.
  • Computers under $1,000.
  • Related computer hardware under $500.
  • School supplies under $30.
  • Book bags, backpacks, maps and globes less than $100.
  • Handheld calculators under $200.
