If Alan Webber had any sense, which he doesn't, he'd install her as SFPD Chief of Police, and blow some fresh air into that corrupt, good old boy, culture. Instead he hired Padilla....

I remember Michele William’s first day on the job back in 2001. She was a dedicated and hard working police officer. She briefly lived in my neighborhood which was a plus for South Capital. Santa Fe was a better place thanks to Lt. Williams.

Your retirement Michele is well deserved... a loss for SFPD, but you earned it. Thank you for your service Lieutenant, dear lady, and outstanding cop.

Obviously the so-called "progressive" city government is as hypocritical about this as everything else they do, shame on you Webber.

The current SFPD "good old boy" culture was chosen by Alan Webber, when he ignored the advice of departing Chief Pat Gallagher, who said NOT to hire from inside. Thanks a lot Alan....

There are many problems facing women at SFPD, and the SF Sheriff. First, the Fitness Standards for entry; which were illegally changed in December 2013, discriminating against women and those over 30. We formerly used the nationwide Cooper Standards, which have gender and age norms. We should return to the Cooper Standards for officers. Second, as she notes about her struggle with a suspect, NM police training is focused on men, so much of Defensive Tactics is on Ground Control, wrestling with suspect. This is NOT appropriate for women officers, due to size and strength differences. LEA training should focus on Defensive Tactics that work for women officers, as they would also work for men. Today, the illegal Fitness Standards make it hard to get into SFPD, and the training is set for male officers. This all needs to change, get legal, and reform. SFPD is ignoring this problem, and all their other problems. Good luck to Michelle.

Not advancing women based on merit in law enforcement and fire departments is unacceptable. And not very attractive to women thinking about relocating to Santa Fe!
