I have lived in Cincinnati for years and never have felt the need to carry a firearm. with what is going on in SF when I move back the the first thing I intend to do is acquire my conceal and carry permit.

Expect it to only get worse...

When you’ve had corrupt Democrats acting as judges both at the Magistrate and District levels; this crime wave is to be expected; ex Santa Fran now living in the Foothills of ABQ and feeling 110% safe in an all white retired neighborhood; jail the entire 1st District judiciary for starters and MAGA by re-electing our great President Donald John Trump.

Here you go.

"The Guardian Angels have become integrated into the fabric of the community. Since 1979, the non-profit, New York City based group, has been responsible for creating hundreds of safety patrols chapters throughout the United States and worldwide. Formed by Curtis Sliwa and 12 dedicated volunteers in New York City, the “Magnificent 13” rode the subways to conduct safety patrol. For 37 years, thousands of people have joined the Guardian Angels and created chapters in over 130 cities in 13 countries to protect their communities and improve substantially the quality of life...."

Things are starting to get out of hand. Especially with these panhandlers. They have gone far beyond “Aggressive Panhandling” We honestly can’t even call it panhandling any more, it’s moved to flat out extortion. If you don’t give them money, they threaten to urinate on you or throw feces on you. I know a local merchant who told me, that these panhandlers sleep or use the restroom in the entrance of the stores. They harass and drive off their customers. They have become so bold as to go into the stores and demand money from the workers. If they don’t give it, they urinate on the merchandise! One even vomited in the store. Sadly, I don’t have much confidence in our Mayor to deal with this, but if we don’t get a handle on this and soon, the crime rate in Santa Fe will equal if not surpass Albuquerque. And downtown will quickly start to look like San Francisco.

Carolyn DM

Why are you bringing up panhandlers when this likely has nothing to do with them. This is obviously just more low-life Santa Fe trash.

Andrew Lucero

Because it’s all part of the same problem Carolyn… A complete and total lack of policing. The crimes start getting bigger and bigger and things quickly spiral out of control.

David Romero

I agree. Progressive government equals crime, filth, and poverty.

Khal Spencer

I think its the "broken windows" theory that if you let little things get out of hand, the big things are not far behind. Go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory

Carolyn I would be careful how you characterize people of Santa Fe, crooks are crooks, the transplants to Santa Fe have done more harm to the community and lifestyle then the low life Santa Fe trash

David Romero

They are a nuisance. No doubt.

As a downtown resident, I am deeply disturbed by this surge in downtown violence. The Police Department needs to do whatever is necessary to put a halt to this activity before we start approaching Albuquerque numbers. Hire more police, get them on patrol. Do something,

Khal Spencer

Maybe we need a volunteer armed possee in this town if the city won't hire and deploy enough cops. Seems to be going the way of Albuquerque. My guess is that the crooks have decided we are easy pickings up here.

Katherine Martinez

Jesus, please don't let this town turn into Albuquerque.

Richard Reinders

What happened to old fashion feet on the ground patrolling of down town, even if it is just hired security. I seen that kind of policing in old town Scottsdale another tourist area. Protect them or lose them it is the City's choice.

Sidney Monroe

How's that "Operation Downtown Focus," going?
