LAS CRUCES — New Mexico State University’s faculty senate and the student government association have approved no-confidence resolutions seeking the removal of President John Floros and Provost Carol Parker.

Similar resolutions approved Thursday contend the university spends too much on administration and that the administration isn’t listening to the concerns of faculty and students, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.

The faculty’s complaints included the administration’s decision to merge two colleges and one department into one new college this year despite an earlier rejection by the faculty senate.

That was one example of disrespect, said Susan Beck, a professor of library sciences.

The university said in a statement that it took seriously the concerns expressed by students and faculty members, would make public a review of the concerns and “remains committed to the principles of shared governance.”

A good idea... the "Leaders" forget how they got their jobs. The students and faculty are right to remind them. Sort of like the NM government; where MLG and Egolf have forgotten that their role is to "serve", and are instead preying on us. Must be the water....

Excellent! Long overdue, these 2 and the Chancellor need to go, speaking as an active alumni, we need new leadership at NMSU and to clean house. The Regents are tone deaf and providing no leadership either. This is what happens when political appointees run universities. The NM university system is broken and need a major overhaul as well, but this is a start.
