The New Mexico Attorney General's Office and Aging and Long-Term Services Department announced Monday they have launched a new statewide scam alert system designed to notify senior citizens and their loved ones about scams and help protect them from fraud and abuse.

The system is designed to allow the agencies to quickly and effectively spread news about new and evolving scams.

“Scams have only increased over recent years, and we are proud to have another way to educate and protect our older adults,” Aging and Long-Term Services Secretary Katrina Hotrum-Lopez said in a statement.
