After more than two years of planning, The Blake Hotel in Taos Ski Valley is officially open for business, and with it hopes that the Northern New Mexico ski area can join the ranks of world-class resorts.

The $60 million hotel has 65 rooms and 15 suites and stands as an anchor for the redevelopment of the ski area’s base camp, a promise made by owner Louis Bacon when he purchased the resort in 2013.

“But the new hotel is only one part of the larger base area redevelopment plan that will eventually reshape the entire Taos experience, including lodging, resort services and commercial offerings,” wrote Curbed Ski, an online publication geared toward ski towns.
