Albuquerque gave Intel lots of incentives to come to town but then it found out how much water chip manufacture takes. Is this retooling going to save any water in the process? It seems that question should have been asked given the 25 year drought NM has suffered.

This is great news for those already working at the facility. Intel is in a bind right now as it's stuck at 10 nanometer feature size chips while the rest of the world is at 6 nanometer. It doesn't seem like much, but it is a problem. I sure hope the $3.5 billion upgrade allows chipzilla to get back on track while the rest of the world is racing ahead. By the way, where was Rep. Herrell? I mean this is a big deal for New Mexico. Is she that hateful that she would not allow herself to be seen with Democrats? Is she so beholden to the Trumpists that she lacks the guts of Rep. Liz Cheney?

This is what I am referring to regarding Intel's problem. https://www.theregister.com/2021/05/04/tsmc_arizona_fabs/

Interesting that the CEO of Intel announced this expansion Sunday in an interview on "60 Minutes" that was recorded who knows how long ago in a story about the global chip shortage. I guess he forgot to tell MLG and had to scramble to get the news out.

This is great news! One thing this pandemic has taught us, globalization is not all it's cracked up to be... It is a matter of National Security and Public Health that we start manufacturing a lot more products back at home... The old logistical supply chain models don't make much sense anymore. Especially in the event of a National Emergency or God forbid, another Global Pandemic.
