The composer of music for HBO’s Game of Thrones series is scheduled to lead an orchestra and choir through a Sept. 30 concert with video footage at the Santa Fe Opera, co-hosted by Santa Fe author George R.R. Martin — who wrote the books the show was based off.

“Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience” will stop in Santa Fe as part of a 21-city tour of outdoor theaters in North America, beginning Sept. 5 in Syracuse, N.Y., and ending Oct. 5 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, promoters announced Monday.

The Santa Fe performance will benefit the Stagecoach Foundation, a nonprofit supported by Martin. The foundation helps create career pathways for New Mexicans in the film and television industry.

Martin and Emmy Award-winning Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi will hold a VIP meet-and-greet event prior to the show, the announcement said.

The news release said the performance will feature “musical pieces and footage from all eight seasons in an immersive concert experience conceptualized by Djawadi himself,” who is making special appearances at a handful of the tour stops.

A Citibank presale ticket offer begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and sales to the general public start 10 a.m. Friday at santafeopera.org or ticketmaster.com.
