Seems a good place for drone based deliveries, which Amazon has been working on for years.

Amazon destroys independent small businesses.

Baby steps baby steps, if this takes a foothold in Espanola maybe other businesses will be attracted to this conservative city and possibly a strengthening of the local economy.

We cannot sink our heads in the sand and say…no development or new businesses otherwise we would all be living under a rock with no roads or grocery stores! Is that what we want???

Regarding the comment …Amazon destroys independent small businesses….. yes that is true in some cases, however if you are business savvy you can adjust to your competition and specialize in certain products without the anchor of Amazon.

There are plenty of small businesses around the United States that flourish and utilize Amazon for some products or are successfully independent.

Yes, Walmart is a disaster and the five or so owners need to get their act together and modernize that store in Espinola. I’ve read that each owner makes $20,000 per hour. It is such a disgrace to Walmart ownership to allow something like this. So you have to ask yourself Walmart, or Amazon??? Which is the less of two evils??? Hmm 🤔???

In my opinion and understanding, Jeff Bezos Amazon has blossomed to create competition and destroy Walmart because of its ineptitude!! And horrible business strategy!!

I’m not a cheerleader for Amazon, but you have to put on your thinking cap and decide where do you want northern New Mexico to be today and 20 years into the future. If they don’t do some type of attraction to businesses in Espanola at least 100 other cities within southern Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona would be glad to take this as a service center.

For debate purposes, did building a Del taco in Espanola ruin the specialized New Mexican restaurants like El Parasol ☂️…. Obviously not, because both cater to different clientele. It’s obvious one is fast food, and the other is an elegant dining experience! 😋 Mmmm… I’m getting hungry and craving new Mexican food!

Let’s try to bring some jobs to New Mexico and only hope that 20 years down the road the Economy in this region of the state will grow.

I hope the best for all New Mexicans and our Northern Espanola brothers and sisters. We are all one ☝️ And need to work together in this unpredictable world!

The problem is the politicians get to beholding to one big company and then Amazon calls the shots in the community not the people. You say conservative they say liberal guess who wins.

Amazon doesn't destroy small businesses. Amazon provides consumers with a choice of conducting commerce with independent small businesses or with Amazon. Consumer choice: one of those rascally individual freedoms our country is based on.

What other businesses? There is nothing in Espanola. The mayor now has a near complete monopoly on the local restaurant business. Wal-Mart is falling apart with the floors taped up and holes everywhere. Us surrounding communities have to go elsewhere for decent shopping and good food. An Amazon distribution center is the last thing we need.

Dan Frazier

6000 square feet? Must be one of the smallest Amazon distribution centers in the world!
