Excellent analogy, Steve. May I borrow that?

This entire process is tantamount to weighing and measuring a cow every day to get it to grow and forgetting to feed it.

Thanks, Cate. You are always the best informed advocate for children and education.

I don't care if we are spending 1 billion or 1 dollar, the tests are a waste of our tax dollars and do not produce any kind of meaningful results for our children. What the money does is make corporations happy and wealthy. PARENTS, OPT YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF TESTING!!

My sources for the one billion figure: "The scope of the contract, which is estimated to bring Pearson more than $1 billion over an eight-year period (the contract is for four years but PARCC has the option to renew it for another four)," Santa Fe Reporter, July 2014, and Progress Now NM, 09-04-2014. That's quite a discrepancy, and we've already seen that math is not the PED's strong suit. Either way, it's a crazy amount of money to waste, in a supposedly tight education budget.
