Soup Star opens on Vegas Verdes Drive in Santa Fe

The Monday menu had six soups, two salads, two sandwiches, two desserts and one penne pasta dish, but Salazar said the menu will change every day or two, as could the number of salads, sandwiches and desserts and the choice of “hot-plate special.”

Salazar started working at Back Street Bistro 19 years ago and worked there off and on for eight years. She said Jacoby at that time wanted to sell the bistro to her. She said she also has been general manager at The Ranch House and Dr. Field Goods Kitchen, but had been out of the restaurant business since August 2021.

“I opened Soup Star because I missed Back Street,” she said. “I wanted to build my own dream."

Salazar and husband Miquean are focusing on lunch only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

“I don’t want to work from 7 in the morning to 10 at night,” Anita Salazar said.
