Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center is adding a second simulation lab at the St. Michael’s Drive hospital.
This will enable the hospital to run two simulation sessions at the same time.
“Education is getting more and more important,” Christus St. Vincent spokesman Arturo Delgado said.
The new lab, like the existing lab, will provide hands-on learning experiences for nurses, health care students and the general workforce. The simulation lab will have real-life health care settings such as emergency rooms, hospital rooms, labor and delivery rooms, and operating theaters along with the ability for others to watch remotely through a video transmission, Delgado said.
The $490,000 simulation lab is being built in space that previously served as storage space and as a conference room.
Construction is expected to be complete in June or July, with the simulation lab opening Aug. 1, Delgado said.
