BeWellnm reports 22 percent increase in health insurance enrollees

BeWellnm, New Mexico’s health insurance exchange, reported a 22.6% increase in enrollments during the open enrollment period from Nov. 1 to Jan. 15, attributed, in part, to the low-cost and no-cost options available for the past two enrollment periods.

BeWellnm determined that 37% of the plan selections from the four participating insurance companies are priced at less than $10 a month, covering 13,863 New Mexicans.

BeWellnm now has 40,788 New Mexicans enrolled in the health insurance exchange, with 24% joining for the first time during the open enrollment period. The exchange added 7,500 policyholders over the prior year.
