Man hospitalized after Motel 6 shooting in Santa Fe

Santa Fe police released this stock photo of the type of vehicle in which investigators say two males were seen leaving the scene of a Thursday shooting at a Cerrillos Road motel.

Santa Fe police say a man was hospitalized Thursday after he was shot during a suspected armed robbery at a Cerrillos Road motel.

The shooting was reported about 4:20 p.m. at the Motel 6 at 3007 Cerrillos Road. Officers found a man in his 30s with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The victim’s condition was not immediately known.

Witnesses told police two males in their teens or early 20s fled the shooting scene in a silver late-1990s or early-2000s Ford F-150 pickup with a stepside bed and large chrome rims.

Police asked that anyone with information about the pair contact the department at 428-3710 or Detective Sgt. Bryan Martinez at 955-5226.

It’s not the first violent incident that police have reported at the motel. In June, a man was beaten in the motel’s back parking lot by a group of men demanding drugs and left in a coma for 10 days, according to a police affidavit. In 2016, a Santa Fe police officer fatally shot a robbery suspect in the motel’s parking lot.
