Body found in forest suspected to be missing music producer

Elliot Wolff

The body of a man was discovered in one of the tributaries of the Pecos River by state police midafternoon Saturday.

Based on identification found on the clothes of the deceased, police notified the family of Elliot Marvin Wolff, who was reported missing in the Santa Fe National Forest at the Dalton Canyon picnic area north of Pecos on June 7. Wolff, a prominent record producer and songwriter, has worked with artists such as Paula Abdul, Taylor Dayne, Dave Koz and Aretha Franklin, according to his website.

Police called off a large search and rescue operation for Wolff on June 12, saying they had insufficient evidence to proceed with the mission.

Confirmation of the man’s identity was pending a dental records inspection Sunday due to the condition of the body.
