To Welcome Boys Home From War
El Paso, Texas, April 26 — Governor Tom Campbell, of Arizona and Governor Larrazolo, of New Mexico have been invited to participate in a tri-state victory loan celebration and welcome to the 155th infantry composed of Arizona and New Mexico troops here Tuesday.
April 26, 1994: On three occasions at the same bus stop one day earlier this month, Santa Fe Trails, the city’s bus service, had so many riders that people were left standing, forced to wait as long as an hour for another bus.
The problem, city transit services director David Armijo said Monday, is one he expects to see more of — unless the city prepares for it.
“We need to start looking at our capacity, or we’re going to be in trouble,” he said. “That’s the bottom line.
“Right now it’s pretty much a rarity,” he said of people being left standing at bus stops. However, “this summer … that occurrence could continue. They won’t be left behind. More than likely they’ll be standing on the bus. I think the problem of leaving people behind (on a regular basis) is more than a year away.”
