HURRICANE, Utah — A hiker was found dead in Zion National Park in Utah near a treacherous trail.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that rangers were searching for an overdue hiker Friday when they found the body below the Angels Landing trail. The man’s identity was not released by park rangers late Friday and it's unclear if the man was the person the rangers were looking for.

The Angels Landing trail has steep drop-offs and has proven fatal before.

A 35-year-old man hiking there died after falling in 2019. A 13-year-old girl died on the trail in 2018, and a 45-year-old man died in 2017.
