Marissa Branch could see blue just feet away from her, and all it did was embolden her resolve.

The senior cheerleader at Santa Fe High could have touched the Class AAAA championship trophy the girls basketball team paraded in front of its adoring crowd on March 14, but the scene already touched her immeasurably. She knew that in two weeks, she and her Demonette teammates would get their chance to bring home a state title — and at the same venue as the basketball team.
