Bundy named new Isotopes manager

Lorenzo Bundy was named manager of the Albuquerque Isotopes on Friday.

Bundy, 48, spent the last two seasons as manager of the Las Vegas 51s, compiling a 141-146 record. Las Vegas was 74-69 last season, second in the Southern Division of the Pacific Conference of the Pacific Coast League.

The 51s were the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Los Angeles moved its top minor league farm club to Albuquerque for the 2009 season.

Bundy becomes the third manager in Isotopes' seven-year history and the 18th since Triple-A baseball arrived in Albuquerque.

John Moses was named hitting coach for the Isotopes, while Jim Slaton was named pitching coach. Greg Harrel will serve as trainer.

In another move, former Isotope Jason Wood was named hitting instructor for the Inland Empire 66ers, the Single-A partner of the Dodgers.

Wood, 38, played for the Isotopes in five of their six seasons.

A UEFA appeal panel said Atletico must play Dutch club PSV Eindhoven at Vicente Calderon Stadium on Nov. 26 with no spectators present. A penalty of playing a second match behind closed doors was deferred for two years.

Hansbrough's return up in air

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The father of reigning national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough said it's unclear if the North Carolina star will miss any regular-season games because of a leg injury.

Gene Hansbrough said his son had felt pain in his right shin off and on for a few weeks before going to the team's medical staff. The team said Hansbrough will be out of practice indefinitely with a stress reaction, which can be a precursor to a fracture without proper rest.

Gene said further tests revealed no new information. He said it's too early to tell whether Hansbrough will miss the top-ranked Tar Heels' opener against Penn on Nov. 15.

NFL suspends Johnson one game

Johnson is not permitted on team premises until Nov. 10.
