Have you noticed that there appears to be an explosion of Anglophiles in America of late? The telly is the culprit. The entertainment world has shrunk (thanks to the internet, cable, and globalization), and television shows are more accessible than ever (thanks to streaming services and DVRs) — all of which allows American viewers to discover British programs and enjoy them at more or less the same time as their British counterparts. It’s a climate that has allowed a show like Doctor Who — which was never more than a cult in the U.S. for most of its existence — to become a stateside phenomenon.
