The upcoming Independence Day holiday is one of the busiest times of year at New Mexico’s lakes.
Boaters come out in droves to enjoy the warm weather and great fishing. And, whether they realize it or not, the Department of Game and Fish frequently tests lakes in the state, and operates check stations to prevent invading aquatic invasive species like zebra and quagga mussels.
