The “warning” sign flashed for Roberto DeVargas when he realized there would be a new Class A baseball champion this spring.

It wasn’t that anyone was discounting Jemez Valley to repeat as state champion. In fact, the Warriors were still receiving votes early on the coaches poll conducted by the website New Mexico Overtime Sportscenter (nmotsc.com) as late as March 24.

    But if the children from four or five schools collectively decide that they don't want to play baseball, we should call out the National Guard?
