Mining La Bajada will destroy landmark

Tourism is an essential and growing source of jobs and revenue for New Mexico, generating $5.5 billion annually. It is the natural beauty of Northern New Mexico that inspires visitors to come. Why allow the proposed gravel strip mine on the top of La Bajada mesa to despoil the landscape for short-term financial gain? This is one of the most important cultural and scenic landmarks in New Mexico.

The public has one more opportunity to have a say in the fate of La Bajada mesa. There will be a special, final hearing on Wednesday, June 11, beginning at 4:00 PM, at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 W. Marcy St., Santa Fe.

Because of the overflow crowd out the preliminary hearing in March, our County Commissioners have scheduled this special hearing at the Convention Center to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to speak on this important issue. Come show your support to save this important part of New Mexico's culture and landscape. Come late if you have to, but please come. This is our last chance to save La Bajada mesa.

    Mr. Cohen,
Perhaps "someone" should find the man that started that baby and stop him before he impregnates anymore women. Explain to him what he is doing is causing an overpopulation problem.

    Re; Stopping ‘someone’
I believe a closer estimate for how many babies are born worldwide per minute is 250.
