Review all politicians expense and travel records

While The Santa Fe New Mexican and some of its readers complain about Gov. Susana Martinez’s refusal to turn over travel records and costs for her trips, and The Associated Press is suing the governor to obtain that information, the first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, was returning from a trip to China, where she, her two daughters and her mother were staying at a luxury hotel suite at more than $8,000 per night in Beijing and visiting all of the major tourist sites.

The leader of any nation--all politics aside--is deserving of full protection, only because his or her stature within the world at large demands it so. Pardon my ignorance, but our governor is not on the same playing field as a world leader.

Her safety while fundraising for higher office (and that of her husband and his 'gator buddies while hunting in Louisiana) could be easily alleviated by staying home. Maybe she could read a little law while she's here.

    Mr. Brown,

We are supposed to be in a recovery. It is , by the way, the slowest recovery since 1939. The reason we have a recovery at all is because of small business owners like you and other individuals who have not given up. You are a great example of economic recovery not because of government intervention, but in spite of it.

But what else would the extremely bias New Mexican have to talk about? There is an election coming up and we must drag every non D through the mud! It is the Reporter and Santa Fe New Mexican way!
Report on ways to improve government, but do so equally. What's good for the President is good for the Governor. Safety for the President is a valid argument but not for the Governor?

Any governor mean enough to steal from a state as poor as New Mexico need not harbor any thoughts of higher office. We should all know what she is up to as soon as possible, expose our findings, and put and end to it.

When presidents, or their families travel abroad, and all of them do, did, and will, the American public does pay for those costs. Those are a given. It does not seem that the Obama family travels any more than any other presidential family on the taxpayers dime. We elect the president and his/her family to perform these missions, and for the most part, do not find much fault with them doing so, nor do we question the expense, or the need for the journey, in the first place, except it seems in the case of all things Obama? So, it seems, that if the American people can question the money POTUS and family members spend on state scheduled and sponsored journeys, and have an expectation of an accounting, than why not also the same for our governors, particularly ours, who like our president, claimed a new day for transparency in all things gov? Perhaps it is a legislative matter for both and the rules for such routine disclosure need to be on the books? Great idea, lets all write our state and federal representatives and see how long it takes for that piece of legislation to be signed into law by the very people we are questioning, if in fact it would ever get out of committee, either way, in the first place?
