The Fourth of July, that celebration of freedom and liberty, is upon us once more in the United States — and boy, this year is a complicated birthday in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
After all, the United States of America is changing. Once, we were proud of lines from a sonnet and placed the words of poet Emma Lazarus on one of our country’s beloved symbols, The Statue of Liberty:
