January 19, 1910: B.F. Pankey of Lamy was appointed by Gov. George Curry before his departure for Washington as a member of the Territorial Cattle Sanitary Board. He succeeds Cole Railston, who resigned.
Harry F. Lee, secretary of the Territorial Sheep Sanitary Board, has returned home to Albuquerque from Ogden, Utah, where he attended the Wool Growers Convention. He also visited Denver during the National Livestock Assn. meeting.
January 19, 1960: Santa Fe police chief A.B. Martinez said this morning he believes there is little, if any connection between the Albuquerque narcotics ring — split wide open by Duke City, federal, county and state authorities early today — and the recent arrests of several local residents on charges of using or selling marijuana. "I think our greatest supply of weed comes here from the north, not the south," the chief said. However, the police chief said there are "a few heroin users in Santa Fe," and they probably get the stuff from Albuquerque.
January 19, 1985: New Mexico retailers are being asked by a state agency to remove cans of Campbell's Turkey Noodle soup from their shelves. The action by the State Environmental Improvement Division came after 23-month-old Amy Gomez of Santa Fe choked on a piece of plastic while eating the soup Thursday at her babysitter's home.
