October 30, 1909: President Franklin Flick of the U.S. Bank & Trust Co. has gone to Chicago to bring back his wife, who has been visiting for some time in the Windy City.
On Nov. 10, B.F. Pankey will ship 45 cars of cattle from his ranch near Lamy to Fort Collins, Colo., for feeding purposes.
October 30, 1959: Albuquerque — Gov. John Burroughs personally set up a tape recorder today before beginning his regular weekly press conference. He said after the conference that he planned to use it at every conference in the future. He has several times maintained he was misquoted at press conferences.
October 30, 1984: Loma Linda, Calif. — Baby Fae, her transplanted baboon's heart 'working well,' was removed from a respirator Monday. The infant has been removed from the critical list and doctors are preparing to feed her orally for the first time since the operation. Doctors acknowledged they didn't know the heart of a 2-month-old human was available the day of the operation but said it would have made no difference because it was too large for the ailing infant — who was 14 days old and hours from death when she received the baboon's heart Friday.
Santa Fe Community College next month will ask the state Board of Educational Finance for nearly $12 million for the school's new campus. That amount will be added to $5 million received through an April bond issue for facility construction.
