Taxpayers spent nearly $13,000 for Gov. Susana Martinez, her staff and her security personnel to travel to out-of-state political events last fall.

This is according to records released late last week by the Department of Finance and Administration, as well as information provided by the Governor’s Office several months ago.

Are you referring to the prisoners who have replaced the GSD landscape and grounds maintenance employees? State employees, highly payed at $7.50 per hour were replaced by prison gangs paid pennies. Why? To save money and cut even more jobs on Susana's road to wherever VP wannabees go.

These prisoners work on landscaping and cleanup near schools, public parks and skate parks, and the State Library plus right next to the Salvation Army and the Volvo dealer and State Personnel Office. Parents who allow their children to go play at the park or study at the library or use the library's computers, beware: those prisoners use the restrooms and other facilities at the Garrey Carrothers State Library at will and without a guard. The one guard supervises the entire group, not those men who "rest" indoors on their breaks.

Take care, parents! With BILLIONS in the State coffers, Susana simply does not need to be this cheap and careless with the safety of citizens.

You are right! I think we've got some change coming. In fact, I think it's got a comma in it.

This is a non-story. The expense was for her security detail.

    Hi Pierce,

Looks like we won't be continuing this dialog even if this case we agree on the Governors lack of ability to govern. I know my comments were removed and I can't think of anything incendiary in it other then quotes from the tapes that were released that are available through many media outfits on the web. I won't be asking the New Mexican why or that they should re post. Trigger happy web editors exert authority when it suits them, not necessarily for good reasons. I know that the New Mexican was the one whom stated this " King should “consider recusing himself from office…” – The New Mexican" so maybe the Governor is their candidate. See you later

How come Gov. Martinez and the GOP never talk about repealing those evil Richardson tax cuts? If they did repeal these tax cuts there would be plenty of money for tax breaks for big business.

Just for fun, how many public officials in the last 30 years or so have been to Prison Univ to get an advanced degree in license-plate manufacture and how many were Democrats? All of them i'd bet. And how many Dems got away with it?

Okay, Jack, I bet you can't find a single post of mine wherein I support Susana Martinez. I've been disappointed in Susana's first term, both in her lack of major accomplishments and in the oafishness that's become the trademark of her inner circle. It's too bad that the Democrats managed to actually nominate a candidate who is an even worse choice for governor.

    Good times.

King was “the worst attorney general” - Democratic Party Chairman Sam Bregman

King should “consider recusing himself from office…” – The New Mexican

“Fat girls should not wear bikini’s!” – Gary King’s campaign manager

    Gary King - “average capabilities.”

Where is money from the sale of that expensive jet? Where's the complete accountability to New Mexico taxpayers for a tangible object we all own and not to a new governor and her personal discretion and spending plan?

    Do the math, sir.

The taxpayers' jet -- was sold leaving $500,000 for the taxpayers of New Mexico. There has been no complete accounting of those funds to date. It was supposed to be spent on the "Summer Reading Program," but ask some of the elementary school principals or teachers if they have ever seen one book, much less the four books they should have received by now. Those that have said they received them in the fall. Oh, and "buy New Mexico?" Your governor has those books written by out-of-state authors printed out of state as well.

Let's see an accounting of the $500,000 our TAXPAYER dollars. We bought those books for children; Susana was just the person we entrusted to sign the check.

Bet it will take her another six months.

John Bennett = deflection to past and irrelevant to current conversation

Martinez = solid lack of accomplishments

You better keep bringing Richardson up cause if she runs on her record the Dems might just have a chance

Private jet = $22 million plus crew plus maintenance. Martinez = $16,000. Yeah, I see what you're complaining about.

Blatant misuse of taxpayer money by politicians. What's new? Richardson is gone. Bottom line is that Martinez said she was different when it comes to more money back to the people who pay the taxes and she isn't.

Selling the jet fixed everything, right.

Susana is not running against any former governor; she's supposed to be standing on her own record which, to date, is non-existent.

I agree with Mr. Rush: nothing to see here, folks. Oh: she guarded a Catholic church parking lot on bingo night and the books for the Summer Reading Program will be delivered to the children when school starts again in the fall.

This is the lead story.? Come on. Put Richardson's spending in as a comparison. OK we get it, Terrell doesn't like the Governor. Cheap and lazy shot.

Spoken like a true apologist Jospeh Tofoya. Glad you're okay with the six month wait. Some of us care about what happens here and realize New Mexico can't take another 4 years of this governor. I can see why you mention Richardson because the Governor can't run on her record. Its dismal at best unless you can state anything she has accomplished?

There is nothing new here. If this news story were creditable it would have given data to compare former Governors to Governor Martinez., especially former governor Richardson or are we to assume he governed in a vacuum. Or there is a possibility his pay to play activities paid his expenses.
