Police: Man with Santa Fe ties dies after jump from Gorge Bridge

TAOS — A 23-year-old man, who had recently moved from Taos from Santa Fe, died Tuesday morning after leaping from the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge northwest of Taos.

The young man jumped from the 650-foot-high structure while visiting the site with family, according to New Mexico State Police Lt. Edwardo Martínez.

    Maybe while in the throws of loathing himself/another person/his life, he failed to consider the lives of the recovery crew. Suicide by nature is a selfish act. In that act your hoping they are going to worry about who's going to clean things up?

    So sad. I will never understand why so many suicides on the bridge. Taking your own life is a matter of choice. But to put the Firefighters at risk while they recover your body is totally wrong.
