A 16-hour search for a 10-year-old Santa Fe boy ended Friday afternoon when police found him downtown on the Plaza.

The boy had gone missing at about 8 p.m Thursday after he was seen playing with about five friends on a playground at a southwest-side apartment complex on the 4400 block of San Ignacio Road, police said.

Glad the little bugger was found safe and sound, so many times these cases end up with dead children. Kudos to the alert cops who located him, they were doing what good cops should do. Wonder if this kid will run away from his family often as he grows up. Some kids are made to be independent...

The previews, if you will, to one of the news shows last night said they knew where he spent the night and why he left. Missed the broadcast. It suddenly seems to have become a secret.

I am in shock! WHY WAS THE AMBER ALERT NOT BEING USED!!!! He is TEN years old. Even if he went to the store on his own, had a fight with mom before hand....he is still only TEN YEARS OLD AND ON HIS OWN ! This world is nuts!
