On Sunday, for the first time in years, horses will again grace The Downs at Santa Fe. This time they’ll be jumping obstacles instead of stretching their necks out for a flat dead run to a finish line.

The private company Horse Nation Santa Fe has worked out an agreement with Pojoaque Pueblo, the racetrack’s owner, to host a hunter and jumper schooling event from 9:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Organizers hope it will be the first of many horse events that will take place at The Downs and boost the region’s once thriving horse industry.

What an exciting new equestrian center, and looking forward to trying out the promised infield footing across various jumps and hunt courses. Not enough notice to give the folks from Denver time to plan to be at the hunter/jumper kickoff today - tell us more about the upcoming August eventing in advance... ~Mountain Strong
