A panel discussion Thursday on a series of proposed city charter changes turned into a commentary on the current City Council when former Mayor Sam Pick said the council wastes time on divisive political issues.

The proposed charter amendments, including one that would make the position of mayor a full-time job with a $74,000 salary, would be unnecessary if city officials focused more of their efforts on local matters, Pick said.

What refreshing public discourse--finally!--from a former mayor who displayed the leadership, integrity and common sense during his service that City Hall has not seen in some time. The circus that is now our City Council emanates from the top--the ideologically far left office of Mayor David Coss. Every decision, resolution and vote is based on idealogy, from his stance on social issues to proclaiming Santa Fe a sanctuary city. Embarrassing! We are and always have been a conservative people. Problem is, we don't get out to the polls. The wave of change is coming, though. I guarantee. Santa Fe deserves better. Thank you Mayor Sam Pick for speaking the truth.

What did you think the City Manager did for his Over $100,000 a year? I am feared to ask how many times you voted for Mayor being so completely uninformed?

I would have thought the mayor was the city administrator. That's what I thought I was voting for when I voted for mayor.

Vote NO on all Charter Amendments. Don't be fooled by these greedy insiders.
