Another alternative to consider is an electric bicycle. I recently purchased one and love it. It will go about 20 to 30 miles using electric assist. Riding over Santa Fe hills is easy. The bike can be ridden on bicycle paths. It is good exercise without creating too much of a sweat on the way to work. And, for me, in 2 years the electric bike will pay for itself in gas savings.

Thanks for the Santa Fe New Mexican for covering this important subject. We often take the bus with our bikes and save money on fuel, parking fees, wear and tear on our vehicle, and are healthier as a consequence. What's not to like? Bike to Work week is coming up soon and a good excuse for people to try out the bus bike combo.
