Bregman faces challenge for state Democratic Party’s top spot

Two years ago, Albuquerque lawyer Sam Bregman tried to unseat incumbent state Democratic Party Chairman Javier Gonzales of Santa Fe. He lost by 11 votes.

Now Bregman, 49, is running again for the chairmanship. And this time, instead of being an insurgent, Bregman appears to be the front-runner, judging from endorsements from elected officials, unions and county party officials.
