The city of Santa Fe needs to strengthen the security of its data and take a closer look at a big-ticket purchase in the Information Technology and Telecommunications Division, according to a new report from an internal auditor.
“Vulnerabilities that may have existed for years can no longer be ignored as threats to information systems have become more prevalent,” reads a draft of the audit dated Monday. “The ramifications for information security breaches, data loss and the inability to continue operations due to systems failures are well within the public’s awareness. Failures in these areas are preventable.”
