An Española man and woman died Monday morning in what law enforcement officials say was a roadside murder-suicide.

Española Public Safety Director Eric Garcia said 36-year-old Sergio Gandara shot and killed his ex-girlfriend Janeth Bojorquez, 33, mother of a 7-year-old child, off North Coronado Road just after 8 a.m. Monday before turning his handgun on himself.

Family members ask for respect and would appreciate it if the public could not make harsh comments. They BOTH were loved and are still loved, even after this tragedy.

The words "domestic violence" do not appear in the reporting. While all the facts are not known yet, it would have been good to add "an apparent case of domestic violence" in addition to a murder-suicide. In using the latter term, both the police and your paper give equivalence to a heinous crime that as not about equality, but a man exerting his ultimate "power" over a woman.

A horrible comment. If your parents had brought you up properly you'd feel shame for saying something so empty and without feeling. Blessings and condolences to the families of those passed, and to the innocent child who must find their way in life without the love of his/her parents.

[sad]I hate the kinda man who suffers from "small man syndrome" if she don't want you, you can't force her too want you. Now a little child must grow up without a mom. How sad is that? He should have just shot him self. She would have been better off without him in her life.
