The New Mexico Department of Transportation, state police and New Mexico Motor Transportation Police will work together to coordinate the transport of a 910,000-pound transformer for Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative Inc.
The transformer will be driven on a 20-foot by 20-foot trailer from Kewa Pueblo to Chili, north of Española, beginning Tuesday. It will arrive at its final destination Wednesday. The transport trailer will take up two lanes along the route and will travel at speeds varying from 5 to 30 mph.
